Working at the Farm - Took a few I-Phone Pics

Thanks. My friends are trying to get me to go ahead and hunt that deer with a bow, but our rut seems to be starting late this year - and I want to see what other deer might show up. I think next week all heck will break loose.

Warm temperatures causing less pre rut activity?

That's what I'm blaming it on, but I don't know for sure. The strangest thing is the lack of scrapes I'm seeing. Many spots where they normally scrape every year are untouched. Also, I've not had many chases on cameras yet, and most of the time when I'm watching deer, they are just grazing like it was August instead of November.

Interesting, same observations from the bow hunt or die crew on their latest watering hole podcast. Small regional abnormalities seem normal but it’s really interesting when it spans half the country.

I was in Alberta, Canada a couple of weeks ago. A moose hunting guide I met said the moose rut was non-existent up there this year.

It’s been awful in SC. Hot and dry and no rutting activity at all. I just landed in Wisconsin for a 3 day duck hunt.
