Working at the Farm - Took a few I-Phone Pics

It's been kind of quiet down there. Seen any tornados lately?

G

Thanks for waking me up George, and good to hear from you. No tornados, but some strong winds. I've cut up some big trees in the fields and will push them into the fence rows in a few days. I've started doing my NWSG mowing and have also been transplanting some shrubs and doing some other spring jobs.

My deer here don't know when to drop antlers and quit working scrapes.

This is going to be a good year for apples, pears and persimmons.

Lawn Mower Food plots planted last fall. In the last one the oats are a little thick, but they will be finished soon.

Persimmons looking good. This is a tree I topworked in 2017. Grown a lot and loaded this year.

You got it going on Native, you must be very proud of your success, and rightfully so ! Lots of work and thought went into your farm I’m sure. I wish I had planted some fruit trees twenty years ago. We have plenty of acorns but except for blackberries, almost no wild fruits. Even wild plums are not nearly as prevalent as they were when I was a kid.

Thanks Drycreek. I get a lot of pleasure out of the work, and the exercise is a good thing for me too.

My favorite pear tree is no longer my favorite. We were blessed with this being the only storm damage last night.

The same system dropped hail on us the night before and knocked off every single apple and pear on our trees. Fortunately, the trees themselves only got a minor pruning.

I'm glad you didn't get a lot of damage. Trees are nice but always targets of the weather!

Ah hell Native, that’s a gut punch. I know you have lots of other trees, but to lose a good one like that is just sad.

This is an insane fruit year. Many of my pears are breaking limbs due to fruit overload. Apples and persimmons are plentiful too. My food plots are getting a lot of use - even with so many nearby soybeans at both of my places. Getting lots of pictures in both beans and plots.

07100807.jpegIMG_2999.jpegIMG_3001.jpegIMG_3002.jpegNative, I feel pretty good about my plots, and my bucks. Then……you come along and post your pictures. 😳

Just kidding ! I wish I had room for bigger plots, but I’ll post pictures of mine anyway. I don’t know why these bucks are in this feed pen, there hasn’t been any corn in that feeder for months. The plot should have been IC peas, sunn hemp, and sunflowers, but the sunflowers didn’t germinate.
