What are some hobbies that you have to keep you entertained through the Winter? Once there’s 2 feet of snow on the ground the habitat projects get put on hold.

I try to stay out of the woods until mid January. After that I spend most weekends in the woods. Post season scouting (usually confirms all the things I’ve seen prior years), habitat projects, and trail/road maintenance.
We usually don’t get enough snow to amount to anything, but when we do I spend those weekends playing in it with the kids. I also try to spend a long weekend skiing each year.

Habitat improvement. Pretty much everything outside of daily rituals ties to deer hunting in some convoluted way. I also work to improve my soil in my vegetable garden. Looking to convert a 45/70 barrel to a smokeless muzzle loader. Sausage making. Have some acreage, winter time is best for clearing brush for food plotting and lime spreading by hand. Run some dog proof coon traps.Young grand sons a couple days a week. Every day is Saturday. Don't where a watch.Not real good at remembering to turn on the cell phone. Life has never been more fun.

Are most of yall responding southern boys or am I just a sissy? Our january-february consists of 15+ mph winds (minimum) +\- a boatload of snow. I dread going out to the mailbox, much less doing something recreational outdoors. Indoor hobbies and planning are the only realistic pastimes until the weather breaks in March.

Just kidding, as I spent one winter in Williston, ND and it was brutal to a Texas boy, and that was when I was young and tough ! I didn't do anything outside that I didn't have to for two months. It's a whole new world when the ground freezes 5' deep !

I made my living working outdoors.Retired now. I enjoy the work in the timber where the wind is blocked to some extent. Ground is frozen ,you can get places where you can't when it's warm. Most days in January it may be 10-15 degrees in the early morning but warms up into the 20's ,30's mid morning with sun , for me that's perfect. But to each his own.

That’s what I was thinking, at some point it becomes very difficult to even get into the woods. In a couple of weeks I shouldn’t be able to drive on the trails any longer.
March is usually a painful month waiting for all of the snow to melt. I get antsy during this time and end up getting stuck in the snow at least once each year.

Shed hunting takes up a lot of my winter time -
Cannot get out every weekend - but the exercise is good and I like the solitude of winter.
Also - make some walking sticks if I really get snowed in -

Ive been out with the chainsaw on 20 degree days and come out of my coat before long. Pretty much sweat the entire time i am out there. Snow is the deal breaker. Hard to work in that for very long.
