"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

Thought I would post up some of the stuff I am brushhogging and the reason larger equipment does not work...

Lots of time in this but finally got finished up today...

Belated Happy Anniversary and birthday to the Mrs! Everything is looking excellent Johnny. Glad to see you are still getting timely rains. I thought I burned the candle at both ends, somehow you burn a third end LOL.

Thank you...perhaps getting a storm tonight. Supposed to be a bad one with big winds and tornado threats but not a lot of rain.

Speaking of burning the candle at 3 ends I had to run a couple errands in town this morning and my tractor was still loaded up so I took care of business at coop and bank and then went to Autozone and unloaded and took care of the back lot there. Place was loaded with big Callery pear and when working around those you are going to bleed. I brushhogged what I could get under the hog and cut the rest with a chainsaw and piled with the loader...

Took a stroll across the road to see how the pond looks after I sprayed it with pond clear last weekend for the plant growth...looks like it is working...

Took some photos of the plot expansions on south, west, and east side of our south plot. Spring planted WR doing ok but the red and white clovers are doing well...

That's a great looking bunch of critters, both turkey and deer. I like the colors the Moultrie is taking, very nice.
Those pear trees are nasty; We have a black locust here which would require a helmet, safety glasses and a space suit to cut in--definitely a winter job.

I have had pretty good luck with the Moultrie cams over the years...

We have black locust here as well and they are nasty trees to deal with and the thorns are tough enough to penetrate tire and they have a nasty sting to them if you get poked. I try to avoid but sometimes my side job puts me in the thick of them and I pray my tires hold...

We have honey locust as well and they have a smaller thorn but an still take out tires. They tend to pop up like sweet gum and takeover areas. Have a couple properties that are loaded with them that I Brushhog. First time I was on those properties it was bad but now I have done them enough we have them under control...

Got a little rain here on the hollow last night. .39 in about 20 minutes but the bad was we lost power and it was off most of the night. All is well now though...

Always enjoy catching up on your thread Johnny. Looks like the thorns almost got he best of you.

Thanks 3C...I get scarred up quite a bit doing the stuff I do but I am helping folks out and earning a few bucks while doing it. I enjoy it...

Plot expansions look great and wow, some nice bucks there!

Thanks Weasel. I wonder what will show up later this year in August which is usually when our biggest influx of new bucks happens.

I still need to get the plots limed...

Well I kept thinking about the location of the banks feeder I put up a while back and just plain don't like it. I have a spot I have fed on the ground for a couple years and even had a timed feeder there last year so I decided this would be the new location...some photos from the spot before.

Looks like the perfect size for where your working.

Catching up here...Congrats on the additional property purchase, and happy anniversary.

Your place is looking good...as always. I'm thinking of getting one of the Banks feeders with some exclusion wire fencing to keep the hogs out. I've heard the 34" panels works well and still easy access for deer.

Thank you on all counts.

I have only seen 1 boar hog so far this year on camera and he doesn't seem to like feeders or plots...weird.

Awoke this morning to a good rain which lasted almost till 5:00 pm today.

While I had some downtime I noticed Google earth had updated and I got a good picture of our south plot expansion. It is everything that is dirt in the photo.

It looks like this now with clover and WR grain in all the new dirt.

I decided to take a quick trip across the road as soon as the rain slacked off. I saw a doe beside the south plot and figured her fawns were nearby, possibly in the rye grain or hinge cuts...

A bit further down the path I saw a young buck I was able to take a quick cell phone photo of.

The woodland hinge cuts are thickening up nicely and the increased sun light to the ground is causing a lot of new growth.

Tender hickory shoot browse which is the only use we see by deer of hickory...ever!

A quick shot of our back yard here on the hollow...Barduro red clover nearly waist deep. Durana white that is over knee deep and WR grain...all growing out of a flint rock hillside...

Place is coming along great! And I see the boar is hanging around, glad he isn't causing problems... yet.
Glad you are getting some nice rain. It's good when it doesn't come in the form of a storm!

Thanks...I think I will move the banks feeder to the new post this evening and get it filled so I can finally just stay out of the area for a good while. 300 lbs should last a bit since they are so Leary of the feeder already.

I hope to catch that hog out in daylight one day. I know he moves in daylight quite a bit but I am always working somewhere else since this is busy time for me...

I noticed while out the other day that the white oaks are loaded with developing acorns so hunting will be tougher this year but it will also be better for the deer and will help the age structure again. Our place is loaded with white oaks...
