My best friend Ronnie, and our crappie guide extraordinaire Todd, went to Lake O’ the Pines today to catch some crappie, and catch them we did. It wasn’t real easy today, bright sunshine and hardly a breeze. Crappie bite best with cloud cover and a little ripple on the water. We persevered though and from about 9:00 am until 3:00 pm we boated 50 legal crappie. That lake is a fantastic crappie fishery and we caught some healthy fish ! We probably only threw five or six fish back that wouldn’t make the cut. The longer we fished, the tougher the bite was. Short strikes were common, as well as fish just running away from the jig. We managed two and one half gallon bags of filets between us. I’m tired !
