The Massey

We'll see if this provides any good pics the next couple of weeks. In years past, for the money, alfalfa has been much better than corn for getting pics over time.

I'm interested in seeing if you get any deer coming in. We tried alfalfa hay bales years ago when we had deep snows, and the deer turned up their nose at our offerings.

Our deer tend to change from year to year; but this is last year. One detail that might skew things this year is the number of still viable acorns that are yet on the ground. There are still thousands of them.

Well, tweedle Dee and Dumb are the two biggest hitters of the alfalfa so far. Putting it in the cover as opposed to putting it by the lower barn plot last year might have something to do with that. The deer seemed leery of it for a while. I still hoping more deer begin hitting it sometime, but there’s so much food still in the form of acorns, it just might not happen like I’d hoped.

Some more deer are beginning to warm up to the hay pile. I guess Tweedle Dee and Dumb have gotten the ball rolling.
