Wow, what great success. I was helping my son with a hundred acres of timber in NE Kansas that had a lot of Callery pear. I flagged a few that I wanted to try grafting and killed the rest. Situation changed and he sold the land before I got to try grafting. Back home in SW Kansas( annual rainfall 17.50", 7.5 pH) we don't have the problem with the invasive Callery pear, so doubt that I will ever get to try grafting. I have no soft mast here now but would like to get some going. There is an old pear tree at a long ago abandoned farmstead that I would like to get a start from, via seed or grafting to some rootstock.
