"The Cabin"

Oh Wow! How awesome - I love this thread and it brings me back to my start hunting as well! I'm jealous you have so many pictures - we just never took any until the 90s really. I can relate to a moving cabin - ours is on big treated skids -so it all kind of heaves together -

Thanks for sharing - I'll be checking back - your cabin renovation has given me some good ideas!
Some day I'll post my cabin start to finish in pictures, mine only goes back to about 1991. What great history you have!!

What an awesome thread. It is like a history lesson ! How in the world did anyone kill a deer before camo:eek: love the old plaid clothes!!! Great memories you have and pics too.

So today I drove up for a day trip to get my grass and field cut. Beautiful day in the Catskills. Well after an hr of fixing the bent axle on my bush hog I started to cut my field. After 3 ft the belt broke ending that for the day, so I said to myself I'll at least get around the cabin cut with the push mower but the mower would have none of that, after about 30 seconds the motor seized up (yes to the oil question) So not a blade of grass was cut today but on a good note my clover is holding its own due the drought and even with planting 2 weeks too late and lack of water the turnips are doing ok. Not real big tubers but they grew but they need water.

John, that is a LOT of green. Good job. Lot of brown fields down our way

Sorry to hear 'bout the equipment issues. Have stuff, Will happen!

Plots look great. Your place is always so peaceful looking. Healthy looking deer and unfortunately coyotes. You may not believe this, but wish a few yotes were back on my place. Spent half of summer ridding groundhogs, skunks, and coons. Never fooled with any of them before.

I drained the oil out of your mower for telling me to take up knitting :p

Plots are looking nice John. I someone needs to adjust the date on the cameras.

I keep adjusting the dates and they do what they want. Typical WGI cameras after a yr of use

Nice update John. Your turnips came out great.
I see you enticed my sow and cubs over to your side of the mountain with your fine dining. They were at my house almost every night
for a few months getting into mischief. The cubs were so tiny at first they could not even climb up onto my rear deck, which was only 15" off the ground.

You can have them back

Your plots look great. We finally got a good rain yesterday after 5 weeks of drought. I am hoping my plots bounce back.

That "walk back to camp" view is pretty special. You guys are already getting frost and we're 83 today. And...very, very dry. Your place looks fantastic!

I can tell you a bear showing up on my cams would be something special. :D
Lots of wildlife enjoying your greens. Wonder if bears eat turnips?
