Looking to purchase a hand gun that is sufficient to neutralize human threats, but is concealable in an ankle holster? Have my waist gun, but sometimes clothing doesnt conceal it all that well in warmer weather.
I wear the same pistol winter and summer. In winter I wear a Carhart vest for warmth and it conceals well. In summer I wear T shirts untucked. I use an IWB holster and have no trouble concealing a full size M&P .40 with a Vortex Venom reflex sight. I’ve been carrying a Shield for a couple years now but I like the full size M&P better.
If I had an ankle gun I’d probably shoot my self in the foot, or run out of air bending my fat butt over to wrestle it out. An ankle gun needs to be light, and the Ruger LCP probably fills that bill nicely.
One thing to keep in mind is that guns in ankle holsters get amazingly dirty. If you are not fussy about gun maintenance then I would be considering a revolver. Light weight is also important. My wife likes the S&W 642. For your purposes it might be a good choice.
Love my 43X, don't leave home without it. I carried a 3rd gun on my ankle when I worked. It's not something you'll get out in a hurry. I prefer my IWB.
