I went up one of my ditches looking for king boletes (porcini) and may have found one. This one was way old so i left it unmolested.



There is more greenery up top than even I anticipated. I did run fire through here the previous spring so there may have been some pent up demand for sunshine. I haven't been in much of a hurry to go stumbling around in the sticks, stumps, and snakes.



All of the black locust that I cut and treated with a rural king water soluble 8% tryclopyr product is growing like I treated it with glysophate or miracle grow.

We always use Tordon RTU. If the tree is relatively young with smooth bark at the base, we have even had good success spraying the base without even cutting the tree down. Either way, place is coming along, G.

Small ones - we cut and treat the stump, so far no regrowth or suckers; larger ones - we double girdle and spray both, so far no regrowth or suckers; my father and uncle like to basal spray, I haven't been there to see that action so no comment on the effectiveness. I did try the hack and squirt method with remedy and diesel - I haven't been back on that end of the property recently though. I will try to check it out in a few weeks when I'm up that way for fall food plots.

So I have to ask do you go looking for these snakes or are they just that visible on your place? You have spotted more venomous snakes in the last 1-2 years than I think the entire forum has seen in their lifetime ha.

Yep, thanks, I am trying to get ahold of some remedy. I will use a higher dose of tryclopyr with diesel.

I have never found a rattlesnake while actually looking for one, it seems the bad boys are looking for me. My property seems to be a combination of good habitat and seclusion from humanity.

Now that you mention it, I had spent a lifetime venturing out into the wilds pretty much all over without a single such encounter until Kentucky.

I'm tending my plots more your style this year after mowing I just added more clover and brassica seed to the volunteer brassica already there, the established clover, and weeds. I did spread some fert.

That mulching that I do is more like chainsaw abuse.

I never tried it on AO but at $59/gallon it maybe cost effective now. Back in the day garlon was always about 3 times the price.

That oil slides through the pump sprayer real nice, I didn't have to wear any.
