I picked up a case of beer cans, beer cartons, and some plastic off a 4 wheeler. I found one spot on the hill side where there was a drunken wreck. I did see that the Kentucky law states that trespassers can not sue property owners. My immediate neighbors won't like it but there will probably be a gate going up. The electric company uses this route to access my incoming power line but it is not in the power line right of way so I'll need to open the gate when they need access. I didn't talk to the neighbor who lets the drunks through and if he doesn't think that it is important for him to talk to me than the gate will just go up.

G, most electric coops in KY are willing to place one of their locks on a gate along with your lock if you are willing. That way, they can open their lock and come in when necessary. That is the setup which I have at my farm. That might be a good answer for you.

Thanks Steve I was wondering about such. I'm heading up for a morning dog walk with my measuring tools to look at the feasibility of a gate. I'm thinking that just a farm gate should suffice. I can easily hear any activity that goes on up there.

The question is can they just ride around your gate...can you also not prosecute trespassers in Kentucky? Is it a matter of they aren’t sure who’s land they are on? If you fence and they cut through all of your arguments have teeth...

I'm keeping cool for a minute were at a critical point here where our friendly neighborhood pact either gets cemented in stone or begins to crumble. My long term property goals would be better served by enclosing.

By enclosing I am assuming fencing? I had 4 wheeler trails, walking trails, tree stands, places where trucks got stuck, etc...on our place until the day that fence went up...peace and quiet since!

Yeah, that situation would really set me off to. We had similar issues until the gates went up. Add "No trespassing signs" to the posts. Might want to use two 8 foot gates and chain/lock them in the middle, just in case you ever want to get larger equipment through there. Never had the gates/chains/locks messed with and trespassing problems solved. I have since noticed a lot of gates in this neck of the woods, so not the first to deal with it.

I have yet to see anyone walking these hills, it is all atv traffic. I could never fence off this property but I could close all access points.

Since I'm not hearing from the neighbor who turned the drunken methheads loose on me I'm inclined to just start my gate project. I need to assess how hard it will be to sink posts in sandstone bedrock before I make too many threats. A 6' gate would suffice for me but the electric company sometimes comes through in a big 4 wheel utility truck so I'm thinking 10'.

I went all out on building my new gates.







I got the bright idea to haul some junk in the barn away and put my wood under a roof.





I'm still working on tree stands looking to stay above their noses.





A lot of the cutting that I did this year was to be able to see more than 20 yards. I'm trying out what may be a future elevated box blind spot this year with a pop up.





One of these days I'm going hunting.

Looking good G. I’m anxious to see how the more open timber works for you. I know you had great success with it in Iowa. I’ve got a spot that could use some thinning, but it’s been very good to me over the years. I don’t want to screw it up.

Good luck with that gate . My neighbor has a spot the local ATVrs come through and they tear down nice gates. I bet they won’t get off the ATV for that one. It blows my mind how disrespectful people are.

The wires hold the signs which delineate my property line, cameras are up in the trees, and the next step is to prosecute trespassers. There is nothing there to destroy.

I am the only customer on the line and when my power goes out they are out within a couple of hours to service me and that is the path they use to do so. As Native has mentioned I could probably put up a gate with their lock on it. I would have to put up two gates in that spot and would have to drill the post holes in bedrock.

I hung my ridge stand 2 days ago, tweaked it yesterday,





and was in it today.



The 9 seems to like my new stand location.





I've said it before, I often judge a trophy by how tasty they look.

I'll have to go with my original assessment on this one based on my experience eating 5+ year old bucks. Salt and a frying pan is all that I need to serve quality venison. Sometimes in Iowa I would slice off some portions and eat it raw. For taste and tenderness I'll take a big buck over a 2 year old doe every time.

I backed off a bit yesterday and sat in my pop up on the hill, no deer, I bumped one on the way out.



Mean while my Kill Zone stand has been swimming in acorns.





and I found the first little scrape that I've seen right under it yesterday.



The turkeys know where the acorns are at



and so do the girls. Apparently they are bedding down on the oak ridge right above my house. And why not, acorns, corn, greens down below, and it is the best place to keep track of my comings and goings. The date is a little off and the time is 9 hours fast.

Surprised your getting pics on corn if you have a lot of acorns. I haven’t had a deer picture on a feeder in 2 weeks here on the hollow but our other property has no acorns and deer are swarming the 1 feeder I have there...
