Well you have a very good point which made me think about your post. I own my business so I can always be working and usually are. with it being so close is one of the reasons I bought it. If I had to plan my trips there i would only get to it a few times a year because I always have things that come up that I have to address. I believe the reason I have enjoyed the habitat management more than hunting is because I can do it anytime and enjoy the property all year long, instead of just in hunting season ans allot of times when I am setting in the stand I am thinking about what I should be doing for work instead. so if I have an hour or two I can run to the cabin to do something. I'm glad you you commented on this since it made me think about why I do go there... and the other great thing about my cabin is there is very little cell service so it helps me keep my sanity. LOL
 
I own my own business too, so we are kindred souls. I HAVE to make myself get away where it ain't convenient to run home.

Nice buck and property! Did you get him with a flint lock? I am surprised not to see any wind turbines in the back round, I am from Bedford county not to far away.
 
That is a real beauty. He looks very old and very large especially for so late in the season.The brow tines are unreal. Congratulations on holding out and still scoring big. Short range or long range?

since we had a break in the weather Saturday I tried to get some work done. Did about an acre of hinge cutting and about 150 yards of tree cutting/pushing over to divert deer movement. Picture with black line is trail. Small lines is where we tried to make trees as a diversion. I also tried using drone for pictures. Learned a lot as to what not to do with taking pictures. Will do better next time. But man pictures from above looks like crap. I thought it looked great on the ground. Lol. Use the skid steer to aid in cutting the trees. Made job much easier and safer. Plus so much faster. Hinge cutting now with planning on future food plots with stand placement and stand assess is much easier after you learn after trial and error and from others on here. I’ll get better with the pictures next time for those who have been following along. Once I move my excavator to cabin I’ll really start to get the program geared up this spring.

That hinge cut area looks great to me! I'm sure you'll have some really nice bedding cover in there next fall.
 
For reference the loader was setting where the stand will be placed which is about at the point of the top of the black line in the above picture. the difference from ground level to arial is crazy. I will try and get better pics next time on the projects to show that.
 
The aerial photos are awesome. Great time to be cutting; the deer will love those fresh tops. I'm confused though as to if there are any photos of the bedding site or are they all of the steering part which looks great by the way as steering cuts? For bedding I'd like to see them cut a lot higher and less breakoffs. Of course you get a lot less snow than us so maybe shorter is normal there. I'm only questioning it from what I see here.
Pictures of course can be very deceiving and I don't mean to be critical-only helpful. I cut a whole acre once too short and it was maybe three years before the deer used it after that.
 
Nice work. I'm a couple counties east of you. Danuger intimidator, interesting attachment. Looks like its great for retaining top soil while clearing brush and younger trees. Never seen one before.

It is really usefull. check out the you tube video on them. I have taken 10" plus trees out with it. Stop by sometime. Im not far from Bedford county line.
