Pa Hillbilly Farming

Broadcasted winter rye into the brassica mix and I ran out of weekend before I got the building pad completed. It’s close to being done.

The bottom pictures are of the old original road which had a bad, steep, sharp switch back that was hard to make without 4 wheel drive. It is much better now. We trucked down about 200 tons from the building pad which is above this turn a couple hundred yards. I made the turn with my tractor and trailer yesterday so hopefully the delivery trucks will not have any issues. The winter rye that was planted last week looks to be starting to come up. Nice soaking rain today should help all the crops. It has been very dry last few weeks. Hope get the new machine shed started in next few weeks.

You still have some green showing on your plots. We've had no rain for a month and out plots are still there, but a bit stunted.

We just got a day of rain this week. Much needed. It has been very dry this have of summer and we had a super wet spring and early summer. I took a 5000 gallon water truck to water pad and road as I was working on them. Thought about water some of the plots before it rained but figured that was about useless idea.Cool temps coming this weekend. no hunting for me opener as I got too much work to do on building pad and road. my roller broke an axle Saturday so that slowed up progress. I had to make a new axle for it, hopefully have it back working tomorrow.

Hey, you can't miss the opener, that's what your place is all about. At least get out for the evening hunt...

I planted this too late. At this point what would you do with it? Leave it go as is? Mow it or crimp it and planted with winter rye?

It doesn't look quite like Stiltgrass, more like mileaminute. But the picture is not quite clear.

The deer and doves will probably eat the heads if you let it. It's getting pretty late in the season to plant winter rye.

took an hour and cleared up some small trails on the north side of property to access the back side of our plots on that side of property. Now coming or leaving the stands from these roads I believe is gonna be a game changer. Pretty excited with these improvements

Nothing trumps the right equipment for the job! You have some serious soil to drill holes but looks like drill with extra sharp tine doing well. And who wouldn't want to clear a path or two with that machine. Good job and good luck. Place and prospects look great.

Looks like you’re in the heavy equipment business. Everything you are doing looks great!
LOL no, I am a welder by trade. I just like taking the manual out of labor as much as I can. My CTL I bought out right but the dozer and the excavator I got through trading for truck builds. It as made doing these projects pretty enjoyable. Diesel therapy.. Only downside is now i have build a building to store this stuff inside.

When my wife called me and asked what I was working on I did have to say "this is too much fun to call work".

Small price to pay for owning that equipment!
