Foodplotting In The Mountains...The Sequel

I'm with you on loving peace and quiet, but I'm not going to fight change, rather, I'm going to ride those trails and check it out for myself. I don't expect them to stay open permanently, there's going to be too much damage, and too much opposition, so i want to take a look before they close.
There's a fixed number of 5.77 billion acres of habitable land on Earth and 8.2 billion people, so there's only 2 acres per person, and the population is still exploding, so there's going to be a lot of squabbles and differing opinions on land use in the future, the smartest thing a peace and quiet loving person can do is buy their own land quick before it's al gone.
There's no stopping change, and zoning laws are a joke here in Pa. I've spent most of my life in the woods, swamps, & meadows, so I've had my share of peace & quiet, I guess. I feel sorry for the younger generations who won't have those same chances. Open up, "develop", and pave over in a race for control. I've read most of what Ned Smith wrote in his books and articles, (I have 2 copies of his Gone For the Day books) and I remember he called those developing folks "the spoilers." Seems we just can't let nature be itself.

Well I’ve rode dirt bikes thru the wood for years since I was a small kid so the noise issue or access doesn’t concern me But it is crazy the people that now go mudding. Alcohol and / or weed tend to make people a little crazy. Used to be a unique thing. Guess everyone wants be like me??!!

Finally got fields sprayed week ago. Prefer to do late May but rain and broken equipment piece delayed such. Used a mixture of Cleth/ Butyrac / bean oil. Usually add AMS but didn’t realize I was out. Will make very little difference.

The pto King Sprayer made in FL has been one of my best purchases. Only complaint is not compatible w my quick hitch. So foolish to not make small adjustment for such.

Not sure why bother w foodplots. I watch deer out my window browsing on “weeds” when 1/3my yard is clover. So fun to watch close how they selectively feed knowing by sight and smell which growth is the tastiest choosing one bite yet passing an apparent same plant adjacent.

Interesting to see dead trees as always. Walnut is dying. Oak blight. Gypsy moth .Ash borers . all are testing our forests. One big reason I chose to timber as it’s a waste to lose money of dead trees on the stump.
Foreground was once a clover chicory alfalfa plot which survived 8 years. Clover and chicory remain w some remnant alfalfa. Giving some thought of replanting the alfalfa this fall.

Golf kinda gets in the way of farm since retirement. One of 3 golf courses on the place I live and the most hilly of them. Named Woodhaven but I typically call it Woodhell!
Golf course are the epitome of chemical and mowing abuse but deer seem to love them. We can hunt here but I don’t since the deer are more tame than your dog

And finally a few pics for you guys that love the quiet wood. National GNCC races last wk at Snowshoe Ski resort near me. You can almost hear the roar of the 4 strokes, no?

It’s been hot as Hades here this year w lots of storms. I’m thinking of starting an Only Fans page of me mowing the yard in a sweaty shirt and shorts. Let your women know. Fees are minimal to support my fixed income.

But if you want peace and quiet we have plenty of such. Thanks for reading the delusional ramblings of the Mountain Man. Remember to get down on those knees and look close and observe the miniature world you trample. Peace , my friends.

Great pics, property is looking great after the logging operation, although it pains my deer managers heart to see that doe grazing on grass in your yard "for lack of better food:)" But with an application of cleth and Butyrac200 you will soon have better food available. 😀😀😀 AMS is not a must, but provides more value than it's cost. In my experience when not using AMS the active ingredient % off the mix needs to be increased for good results.
Congrats on the sprayer, you owed yourself a nice rig like that. I had the same dilemma, sprayer didn't fit the quick hitch. I took the new sprayer to a local Amish. Welding shop and said, fix it, giving them the correct measurement. And it looked exactly like factory, they just raised the top point of the three point attachment on the sprayer, even painted it a matching green color.
I'm mentally extremely mixed up on ATV's, I own them and run them myself, but hate seeing and hearing the loud ones in the woods. I just need to learn to appreciate the peace and quiet that we have more like you do, and ignore the racket. Maybe you can give me counseling for this weird condition.
My wife isn't interested one little bit in only fans, but if you have a large nice looking flower garden she'd give you all my credit card numbers in a heartbeat.
Great to see your update. Allen Shirk

I never did either and I'm a little bit crazy, so you might not be onto the the correct causation yet, better head back to the drawing board. I'm wondering if dealing with the general public in running a business is possibly a root cause?

Thanks for warning me about that Only Fans page. I may have my Internet disconnected! :D

If I explain that the Good Lord made it and man was late finding it, maybe they will let me in.
That could trigger the "too charismatic" clause and you get kicked out on a technicality. A long beard, extra wide suspenders fastened with buttons, and a really big straw hat will guarantee membership no questions asked.

Most of our worst plant pathogens and insect pests came here from overseas. Gypsy moths were brought here by a greedy guy who thought he'd get rich by using the silky threads the gypsy caterpillars spin. Other plant pathogens were brought here by wealthy folks who wanted exotic landscaping that most others couldn't access or afford. Other insect pests & invasive seeds were brought here in shipping container materials by "global trade." No thought, foresight, or wisdom involved. Now we spend $$$ billions to fight / mitigate these self-induced problems.

Great pics, and very entertaining per usual! Almost my entire family is in Colorado right now and we’re still in SE Kansas, any mountain pics do the heart good.
