Finally got fields sprayed week ago. Prefer to do late May but rain and broken equipment piece delayed such. Used a mixture of Cleth/ Butyrac / bean oil. Usually add AMS but didn’t realize I was out. Will make very little difference.
The pto King Sprayer made in FL has been one of my best purchases. Only complaint is not compatible w my quick hitch. So foolish to not make small adjustment for such.
Not sure why bother w foodplots. I watch deer out my window browsing on “weeds” when 1/3my yard is clover. So fun to watch close how they selectively feed knowing by sight and smell which growth is the tastiest choosing one bite yet passing an apparent same plant adjacent.
Interesting to see dead trees as always. Walnut is dying. Oak blight. Gypsy moth .Ash borers . all are testing our forests. One big reason I chose to timber as it’s a waste to lose money of dead trees on the stump.
Foreground was once a clover chicory alfalfa plot which survived 8 years. Clover and chicory remain w some remnant alfalfa. Giving some thought of replanting the alfalfa this fall.
Golf kinda gets in the way of farm since retirement. One of 3 golf courses on the place I live and the most hilly of them. Named Woodhaven but I typically call it Woodhell!
Golf course are the epitome of chemical and mowing abuse but deer seem to love them. We can hunt here but I don’t since the deer are more tame than your dog
And finally a few pics for you guys that love the quiet wood. National GNCC races last wk at Snowshoe Ski resort near me. You can almost hear the roar of the 4 strokes, no?
It’s been hot as Hades here this year w lots of storms. I’m thinking of starting an Only Fans page of me mowing the yard in a sweaty shirt and shorts. Let your women know. Fees are minimal to support my fixed income.
But if you want peace and quiet we have plenty of such. Thanks for reading the delusional ramblings of the Mountain Man. Remember to get down on those knees and look close and observe the miniature world you trample. Peace , my friends.
