Dwarf chinkapin oak

As you can see from this not-so-good picture the bloom spikes in post #73 have indeed tried to set at least one acorn here in SEPTEMBER. I have started harvesting acorns from this tree already. You can see in the background one "normal" acorn that is almost ready to harvest.

I have a few second generation DCOs heading up to the farm this weekend. Planning on planting on the hill with the parent tree and my Concordia oaks.

We have some trees planted behind the house 3 springs ago that have some little acorns on them. I'm not sure they will turn into much yet. I'll try to remember to take a picture of them.

Ive adopted this strategy as well and plan to keep mine in pots for another year

The bigger(rootball) , the better in our texas heat!

These big 5 gallon Rootmaker pots are perfect for this. May be even a little too big.

Looks like the DCO in my yard that was loaded has aborted at least half of its acorns. I assume due to non-pollination. I have got to get another tree established in my yard!

They end up being about the size of a marble. Not the big marbles but the regular sized ones. At least that’s the way they’ve been over here.
