Dugout

Hunting has been though for us this year so far. The big bucks are not showing up. I came home to work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I will try again after the huge temperature drop and front on Saturday.

We are big time now; we have our own clothing line apparently. This was a nice gift that my dad made for everyone in the family and in camp.

Now thats a rough lookin bunch... :D
Sad thing is; we might be tamest if of our line. My Grandfather was a block mason his whole life; we aren't making models tough as that anymore. When he finally retired and went to the doctor; we learned that he had 3 compressed disks and only 1 kidney. Worked everyday and never complained once. He will be 80 in May and still deer hunts, cuts his own fire wood, and will out work men half his age.

Winter wheat looks great, but little deer usage now. They were hitting clover pretty hard until frost and were starting to hit the wheat after the frost. Then gun season opened and they just aren't using our farm much at all.

That hat and that group you got there look pretty good. I'll agree they don't make 'em like they used to. That generation of folks where pretty special and truly helped make this country great and knew what sacrifice for the common good was all about. Glad to see he still has the gumption to get out there with ya. Remember those days they all too soon become too few......appreciate what you got right there.

Great pic of you guys. Think I'd frame that one and put it on the wall. Will grow more precious with time. Lots of "remember when" discussions will be had over that pic in years to come.

Congrats on the Dugout property. Orange County has a special place in my heart, over the last decade my hunting has revolved around there, mostly public land. We've taken some great bucks there, and a buddy's retirement home is about 3 miles west of French Lick.

What good are we if do not pass on what we love and honor God while doing it? My son is now an "expert" and was more than happy to pass on all of his knowledge to his sister. We talked of saving the American chestnut and then hunting under these trees some day. My son was surprised that I liked any tree more than oaks. I bought all of the supplies to light and wrap the table today. May have to cut back on the garden veggies and brooding birds this winter.
