Double A Farm (NE Ohio) Updates

Tractor time is great therapy but sitting on a tractor in low gear with the tiller can get a little monotonous when doing several acres. Lots of hard work going on at Double A. Place looks great. It is hard to mow those clover plots sometimes but it pays off. I have made many walks from the tractor back to the truck or barn to get the ATV. Always enjoyable to spend quality time with a good friend.

Thanks Todd. I'm hoping the good timing on the mowing pays off. I'm trying to keep up on weeds & grasses a little better this year. I don't mind the tilling and don't find it to be monotonous. I can see how it could be with bigger plots but doing a couple of acres in a day doesn't bother me at all. In fact I really enjoy it. Maybe it's because of my tiller friendly soils unlike so many that struggle with rocks.

Thanks lak. I figure while I'm keeping the ground cut around trees, I might as well have something growing there that deer want to eat. Simple but effective tactic for smaller properties.
I was letting things grow up around my four year old seedlings but decided this year to keep area cut. Put some chufa among some saw tooth and may follow your lead in other spots. But then there is always fescue to fall back on

Something is wrong with your ground...you can use a tiller!

Rock would destroy a tiller in short order up here on the hollow but I really like the way they make a seedbed look.

Your place is looking great and all of your hard work shows from the cabin to the tree plantings and cuttings to the plots. I just wished you had some photos from that banks feeder. I have been trying to get a photo of a deer and my banks feeder together for 1.5 months now and it's not happening...

Ha ha! Yessir, I'm pretty fortunate to have rock-free soil. Every once in a while the tiller will pop up a rock here and there but nothing like some of the struggles I see here. I know there are others ways and maybe better ways to prep my plots but I have a tractor and a tiller, it's all I have and it works for me.

Appreciate the compliment, it's been a great year so far for getting work done. I'll stop & pull that card from the camera on the Banks feeder next trip.

Corn is in. Soil was more damp than I thought and fought the tiller and planter a little. But it's in.

Clover is looking great after being cut.

I had lots of visitors all day. Managed to get my phone out and snapped a pic before she ran off.

Finally looks like I have stopped all traces of ATV trespassing on the power line.

The soft mast cut I cleared & planted earlier this year is really thickening up.

Glad you have the atv trespassers under control. Anxious to see how the power plant turns out. Place looks great, your work is paying off. Always enjoy your updates.
