Concealed carry NY

I doubt it John—that would make sense and apply long recognized constitutional principles of free movement/travel and the Second Amendment. The state police have a hotline for firearms questions that has surprised me with helpful and thoughtful responses. You might ping them. Please note that concealed carry, as opposed to the mere right to posses are treated differently. In many counties, it’s nearly impossible to get concealed carry absent extraordinary circumstances. I moved to NY 10 years ago and still haven’t moved my handguns in. To merely possess, I’d have to apply (which has traditionally been a year process). Once, I get a permit, I’d then have to have a FFL from out of state send them to an instate FFL. I figure it will cost a $100 per gun. And I don’t even live in NYC.
 
Yea, this Country needs more gun control laws! They're working great at keeping guns out of good people's hands.
 
It will also depend heavily on the county you are trying to get it under. Some are better at offering CCP than others.

So I took the Utah Concealed Carry Permit course and I asked the instructor about this he said yes you could probably get a concealed carry permit in the county that your house is in, however and this is how they get you, you're not allowed to carry a pistol in New York state unless it's bought and registered in New York state currently non-residents cannot purchase a handgun in New York state so there you go that's how they get you

That is not correct that you can't carry a pistol that was not bought in NY. Almost all of my guns have been purchased in PA. You do have to get a coupon from a NY dealer so that you can put it on your permit. Some charge a small fee for doing this and some don't. You can apply for a permit as a non resident if you own a residence or a business. If you get one or not is going to depend on your County issuing agent. Usually a judge. Just apply and see, then work with a local gun dealer on getting whatever pistols you want on your permit.

Swat—gun laws here are among the worst in the country, taxes are high and the majority of politicians are trying to compete for who is the most progressive. Still, I don’t know many places where you can buy good sized acreage for $1k per acre in a spectacular setting and be only 3 hrs from a large metropolitan area. I work in midtown Manhattan and can be hunting and fishing on my 200 acres every weekend. Look to retire in the not too distant future. The older I get, the more I realize good life choices require trade offs. Also, priorities change a bit over time. I never moved my handguns in state because of the BS restrictions in the county where I reside (year permitting process just to possess, no chance of a carry permit). It will be a much different issue when I retire Upstate .... I moved to NY after spending decades in Utah and Idaho. Land prices there are simply ridiculous for a comparable property with comparable recreation opportunities. Just my 0.02.
 
I moved to PA in the last few years and have been enjoying my suppressed AR and many other toys that were previously unattainable. I would still like to get a CCW for NY since I regularly visit family in upstate and I feel weird not carrying.
 
Yes, my parents live in Chemung. I was aware of that, but unfortunately for me, I am south of Bradford.

Thank you! Now that makes sense to me. Because I don't believe that New York would allow a non-resident to have a CCP.
