Currently i live an hour away so a bit of a drive. Currently all my habitat tools are whatever i can carry in or pull in with a sled. I am hoping to get a 4 wheeler or small tractor in the next couple years to help out with improvements. Leaning towards a 4 wheeler, so I can transport on a small trailer or back of the truck

I have the same issue. Got 4 wheeler, still couldn't carry much. My wife got me a Yutrax ATV trailer and I use it to haul around various things such as pesticides, sprayers, craigslist lawnmower for my orchard, tree tubes, dead deer,etc. Works great and can get into places my truck cant. But sometimes you just need a truck, or even better, a tractor. A side by side would be nice but they can't move through uncut woods like a 4 wheeler can. I also have a chainsaw holster on the front rack so I can carry my saw, water, and whatever tools I need in my trailer.

Was out today and found bear cubs were playing with my vine above my mock scrape. They also tore up a few trees tubes

Also the swamp burr oaks are doing great on their 2nd summer. Sprayed around all the trees and tried some Menards deer repellent on the trees as they begin to emerge from the tubes. I only saw one tree that looked like the deer ate the top off. Tubes are about 4.5' tall. Also tried a 4' boom addition to the solo backpack sprayer. Worked very good to spray all access trails.

This is a long powerline easement on the property, which will eventually be a food plot trail, once I get done with some of my other projects.

Has anyone on here owned a similar white pine planting and been through a thinning operation? How heavy of thinning did you do? Do you wish you would have thinned more or less?? My worry is that if I thin to heavy, there is more potential for wind and snow damage. To light and the undergrowth cover lacks. My initial thoughts were thin more heavy on the outer edges, so light can penetrate at an angle. I think raking the needles away in areas to expose soil may help with some understory growth. I was thinking of cutting ~40% of the pines in about 6-8 years after they put on more height growth.

I used to use a similar models years ago and the handles are a god-send along with a good support strap. My wife would have never left it in the house....because she knows I would start it up! Who needs a hair cut?!?!?!?

I ordered it from solo - p/n 4900299 for $60. They also had an option to mount it directly behind the sprayer.

Wrapping up this season earlier than normal. Deer movement has been poor this year in WI. Only hunted 3 days of the 9 day gun season and all I can think about is habitat work and making sausage!

Back after it, cutting cottonwood and box elder for a NRCS - EQUIP program. FS460 clearing saw was a good choice. Working on getting EQUIP funding for a forest managment plan, to enroll in MFL this summer. Marking hardwood trees in another area for a spring selective cut. Logger is also clear cutting 2-3 acre pockets of aspen. Busy year to say the least. Had the property tree years now and things havent slowed down enough yet to really focus on the details such as access trails, travel corridors, stands, water holes, mock scrapes, etc. After logging and brush cutting, I can refocus. Starting my 1st food plot this coming summer.

Pics on apple trees going into their 3rd growing season. I tied down branches this weekend to help with crotch angles. Any feedback on this or my pruning would be helpful
