Bear in chestnuts

Thought y'all may enjoy this. Planted 5 chestnut trees at house 10 years ago as a "nurse stock" for farm.

How have your trees done in the ten years since you’ve planted them? I did something similar and planted a small orchard near my house but my trees are only five years old.

Matt, They're doing great. lost a couple big ones to blight but they're coming back from roots...I have 50-60 planted at farm in two groves.

I can't remember how to post pics. I guess I have to resize them, but since photo bucket doesn't work like it used to, I'll need to figure it out later.

Cool video Massey. What variety of chestnut were the trees that the blight killed?

They are Dunstans. I'm not 100% sure it was blight but that's my best guess. I have several american stumps in the area, so I know the blight is there.

I’ve had two Chinese to die and come back from the roots multiple times. My guess was blight but like you said - can’t be sure.
