Wool socks

During my army days I suffered frostbite in several toes and so find it difficult to keep my feet warm. In summer I wear merino wool hiking socks, in spring and fall wool socks, in winter merino wool under wool socks. Today doing spring cleaning laundry and hand washing all my wool socks in cold water with woolite. I then hand wring them all out and hang them on a drying rack in the shower to dry. Most of my hunting clothing is wool also with merino wool long underwear. Nothing is as quiet and warm as wool. Wool will keep you warm even when soaking wet. The drawbacks of wool, it is heavey, requires special care in cleaning and during off seasons must be protected from moths. Anyone else here that utilizes wool for hunting clothing?

It is my preferred clothing material by far. I think merino wool is the perfect fabric. Some of the high end synthetics are pretty darn good now, but nothing beats merino wool.

One of the other benefits of it is it’s fire resistant. That matters when you are backpack hunting.
