When is too late to plant?

I have a plot that time has simply not allowed me to get planted. I would like to have it planted by October 15, with winter rye, winter wheat and some oats. Am I wasting my time here? Would love to hear some input!

Oops. See you are in Virginia. I think you would be fine planting cereal grains. Oats might be my only question but rye and wheat should do ok.

I've broadcast WR and RC first week of Nov and it does great. You should do fine.

I have no problem just doing rye and wheat, should I mix anything else in? Too late for brassicas I'm guessing?

I just spread Peas, wheat & turnips and crossing fingers, in KY

Farmer who leases some of my fields just seeded with wheat/Rye yesterday, 10/15/16. He said no problem planting those now. Just for future reference when people are searching this topic in the future.
