What's for dinner???

Venison shank tacos tonight. Put the shank in a crockpot on high for six hours with chopped onion and beef stock. Shredded then pan fried the meat in a little olive oil to add some crisp. Delicious.

Shanks have become sought after parts of the deer in our house. Takes a little more work but low and slow in a Dutch oven or crock pot and you’re left with amazing meat. Lots of options once it’s off the bone and shredded.

WHAT'S FOR BREAKFAST?
Creamed Chipped Venison on Home Fries! Creamed chipped beef on home fried potatoes (also know as SOS) is a Pennsylvania Dutch specialty, and is one of my favorite breakfasts all-time.
I harvested a large doe recently to make ring bologna with cheese, snack sticks and regular baloney. But I saved one entire ham for dry beef, and Ivan at Narvon Butcher Shop hit it out of the park, and my daughter's made it for me this morning to start Christmas off right.
