Does anyone slug hunt with a savage 220? If so what are your reviews? Slug type used?
Thanks

I bought two of these for my junior hunters, on sale at Cabelas several years ago, black&camo w/scope combo, even have consecutive serial numbers. Best slug gun investment I even made and there's been a few, these things are lightweight and accurate. Pretty much the same as hunting with a rifle. X3 on the Remington Accutip. Hornady SST is great too.Does anyone slug hunt with a savage 220? If so what are your reviews? Slug type used?

You're saying a 15" group on a door is good? I'd say you will want to work on tightening that group before heading for the deer woods. Slugger ammo is going to be short range ammo, fifty yards is about max to consistently shoot a two to three inch group, which is what you should be capable of to go deer hunting.I just picked up a Mossberg 185D-B bolt action. I cleaned it up as it was in poor condition. Before cleaning etc. Put 50 rounds of Winchester 2 3/4 1200 7/8 oz. 7 1/2 through it. Changed to Remington 7/8 oz. Slugger as a bet and put 20 rounds all within 15 inches on a door. All with no scope but just a front bead. Is this normal for this gun? Or is it the ammo? This shotgun shoots more accurate than my Winchester 1300 Gloss 12 guage.
