River bottom land- 160 acres western OK.

Don - Post up some pics of your cabin. Very nice buck you're going to be chasing this fall.

Triple C, I posted pics from my IPhone. Are they not showing up? I noticed sometimes if you post pics from an iPhone they won't show up on the computer. Are you looking at a computer?

I can see the pictures of the inside of the cabin but the pictures he put up as attachments of the outside cannot be seen on my laptop, kindle, or iPhone whether I use tapatalk or not...

Oh, from page 1 (I stopped looking when I got back to the interior pics). I can see them either and clicking on the attachment only takes me to tapatalk.

On a side note, this is the thread that inspired me to buy these:

I'm going to try something. I had a bunch of silver maple trees sprout up around my yard this spring. I transplanted them into pots and I'm going to plant them at the farm. They're not the most desirable tree but they grow really fast and I'll take any tree I can get as I don't have a lot of trees. These things were only two or 3 inches tall just a few months ago. They grow pretty fast. I'll probably leave them potted through the winter and plant them next spring.IMG_0377.JPGIMG_0519.JPGIMG_0520.JPG

I thought about doing the same thing, but with the way the sprout and grow in the yard I was afraid of starting an invasive on our land.

I actually need lots of trees. If they spread too much I'll keep them thinned with my tractor and shredder! If I can even get them started growing good. Between the dry weather and deer browsing I have a hard time with trees! The hard work comes after you plant them! Trying to keep them alive!

Gotcha. I spend a ton of time chasing down new locust and hedge trees that seem to pop up everywhere! Different situation and frame of mind...

You want some locust seeds? :)

Actually have several locust trees lining my property along the road. Those things spread pretty good. Thorns and all!

Thorns make them a pain. I don't mow them because I seem to get more flats. I have to cut each one and burn them. They always make sure I bleed a little for what I'm doing to them.

Yep, been stuck by many a thorn! I have many that died from the bad drought of 2010 to 2015. You can just push them over. Many up to 20 ft tall. They make good posts!

I have started several silver maples from seed. My cousin who lives across the road from our other property has several silver maples. One of the seeds helicopter'd its way to the end of our other house about 10 years ago and terminated and is about 35 ft tall now. It has its own seeds now and about 4 years ago I planted some and those trees took a beating from the deer for a little bit with browsing but now they are about 12 feet or so...

They have a hard time with drought when getting established but once they get a little bigger they can take it...

What I like is they have no stratification period, they'll sprout soon after they hit the ground. That's what bothers me the most about planting them at the farm is dry weather. That and the browsing! If I can get them in early in the spring and get some root system started before the heat and dry hits maybe they'll be ok!

Here is my water hole I built a couple of years ago. It's been a great addition to my property. Lots of deer and other critters use it. Especially this time of year! I dug it next to a water well that was used for a stock tank. I put a timer on it and it comes on for 30 minutes a day and keeps it full.
