Restoring my fathers old hunting Jeep

Well my friends did not share my enthusiasm on putting a jeep motor in today so i was on my own, and I dont wait well. I hooked a ratchet strap from the motor to the hoist to get it straight to the trans, got it started on the shaft but just couldn't get things lined up by myself so I got 2 more straps one on each side of motor to the crossmember behind the transfer case. I got some tension on it then jacked the back wheels off the ground and spun the tires a bit, the engine fell right into place !!!!!!whew

The hardest part was getting the pass side motor mount bolt in

My wife did not agree to my proposal to put it in the living room as a display pc so I move on

My fuel pump line fitting was frozen and soaking for 3 days didnt help so I got a length of 5/16" of steel line and made one

My bending tool couldn't bend such a tight radius like the original so its a bit bigger

Just used the double flare part of the flaring tool

I didn't realize how close this line was to the exhaust manifold

Not too much progress. I got the fuel lines and heat shield blasted and painted. Installed them today (clamps to follow ) I have my radiator at a shop getting recored and painted like new. Then I'll probably bring the chassis to a custom muffler shop to get the exhaust on. Same price as waldron but they're so busy its an 8 week wait. Then we fire her up.

Used some Bondo - glass which is bondo mixed with fiberglass to smooth things out

Since the original had a lot of texture to it from the factory I just went ahead and used bedliner on it

I got busy at work so its been awhile. I hooked up the existing key switch to make it easier to get her running.

Last week I got the exhaust on

Today I got her running at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes to break it in. It sounded great (sounds loud on video but it wasnt) Found a pin hole in the oil pan so now I need to find another one of those, and the rebuilt alternator wasnt charging so that was taken off and returned

So where I am now is I got another oil pan, need to paint that and put it on. Work has been nuts for me so I haven't been doing anything on it. 2 more weeks and things should level off. Oh yeah it's planting season...ugh

That is really cool, John...very impressive stuff!

Don't make it so nice that you're afraid to get a little blood on it! :D

Nice nice nice work so far! Used to have a CJ7 myself. Love the CJ's. Cant wait to see it when its done
