I used to live very near Deerfield Il. At that time Chicago (Deerfield is a suburb) had a ban on handguns. If you moved into the city limits of Chicago you had to surrender your handguns. All of them. This ban lasted for 28 years before being struck down by the Supreme court. So from 1982 - 2010 if you were a criminal in the Chicago area you had free reign on your helpless victims. 1998 in the middle of the handgun ban years Chicago had 704 handgun related murders. The highest in history since the gang wars of the 1970's. The lawsuit was filed by a group who sought handguns for protection against gangs. Yes, that's right folks for 28 years the gangs still had guns. I know amazing.
Ask any 10 year old if Chicago was a dangerous place to live in those 28 years. Still is actually and Chicago has very strict gun laws currently. Probably the best example I've seen that gun control DOES NOT WORK. There's a reason they call Chicago "murder city".
Deerfield residents beware. The bad guys know you can't defend yourself anymore. It's coming!
