Got home tonight, and split some wood with the log splitter. I store a lot in the barn. I have some that I keep outside under tarps as well. I would say that we are ready for winter at my house. It keeps the GF happy too!

It wouldn't be a good day if I didn't check on my food plots behind the house. This one had UREA spread on it last Saturday, it has SHOT out of the ground. I am overly impressed, I will be broadcasting winter rye over this field too, just because I don't like only have brassicas/oats.....gotta have one more grain.
I am excited for this plot as its the first time ever putting one in behind the house.

Well next week myself the GF and cousin are heading to the farm. Here is the to-do list
1. Bring log splitter and split remaining logs/cover with tarp
2. Cut up 2 trees we fell, and split them
3. Climb up in every stand on farm and make sure it has bow hooks, and straps are safe
4. check cameras
5. Overseed plots with some WR (did oats list time)
6. Spray trails with GLY that lead to stands make sure they are CLEAR and easy to get in/out.
WE ARE CLOSE BOYS! Soon the Buckeyes will be winning football games and we will be grilling back straps!

Always love your enthusiasm, Buck. Place awesome as usual. Now about this list. Pretty sure #7 is spend quality time with GF. I'm always mixed on #6 as to every time I clear a trail to stand, the deer make it theirs and I'm stuck wading thru the brush. Sure makes it easy to sneak in tho. Great Place. No comment on the Buckeyes.

Yes spending time with the GF, I forgot that one!
I agree sometimes the deer do use it but I rather take my chances with rubber boots being quite on a deer trail then making noise in the brush. However, maybe I am doing it wrong hahaha.
Don't be hating on my Buckeyes! I root for Mountaineers (My aunt is a WVU grad!)
I'm sure you both hate my Hokies.....

^ ^ ^ ^ No dislike Brian or Buck, as long as we are not playing each other . Nobody has to worry about me since our program the last several years has been on a downhill spiral that is embarrassing.. Used to recruit great from likes of FL, PA , and the northeast. Now we are stuck trying to recruit flatlanders from the midwest to these hills? Yea we see how that is going so far. So not much grief from me to anyone, could backfire.
Next year we open the season with each other. It's hard being a Hokie. We can start off the season beating a team like Ohio and then lose to a team like James Madison University. Our other name is the Chokies. New season , New coach. Time will tell. Back to the regular scheduled program. Don't want to hijack a great thread.

I just picked up 150lbs of Rye today and some brassica mixes. I will oversewed the plots/beans/thin areas with a mix of RYE and brassicas. I am ready for deer hunting y'all!

Well had a pretty good weekend a the farm. Never get as much done as I want but hey, I am pretty darn ready for season.
I was very bummed to find my one brassica plot is about gone. IDK what happened. It was full of brassicas and now nothing but weeds/oats. I know the area where it sits can hold water if we get a LOT of rain. Well we had, and I think that hurt the plot. I had bought another bag and WR so I over seeded it heavily in hopes it will fill in nice. I will probably put some clover down as well mid SEPT just to have something there for deer to eat. I had also spot sprayed it really well.

As I pulled in I noticed the grass needed cut. What amazes me is this yard has never been anything more than a yard, and I have over-seeded some clover into it. I did spread some lime on it this year to help it grow, but that is it. Notice the stand of clover in the yard, after years of mowing/overseeding.

It is always fun checking the plots. I am blown away with the EAGLE beans. This plot should be about 6ft tall. However, the deer are keeping it in check. We oversewed WR and brassicas into the entire plot. It is also starting to produce bods heavy so that is great! I also sprayed the entire plot with a backpack sprayer to kill off some weed growth!
I do have corn on the other end of this plot. It has taken a beating with wind damage! Still should have some draw I hope!

One thing I love making sure is that we have plenty of wood for deer season. I LOVE sitting around a warm fire after a long hunt. We got 2 full racks full and needed more room. Didn't have any supplies so whatever was in the barn and some redneck ingenuity I was able to get a rack built. We filled it too! This is my cousin putting on some finishing touches.
