Coon got tail caught in crotch of tree and could not get free. It was probably 16-18 feet off the ground. Only saw it as I was repairing tree stand damage after a major storm blew through.
That is a horrible way to go. I have heard old wives' tales about raccoons chewing their foot off to get out of traps. I guess this one could not reach his tail to chew it off.
