Mini corn feed silo.

Thinking about building a small corn silo to hold maybe 500 to 1000lbs of corn. Buying it at that amount will cut my price in half! I'd rather make it out of wood, over steel. Anyone have any simple plans or any pictures of something like this?

Even a bulk seed tote would work well. I'd want to find one that's never had neonic seed coatings in it though. You could really harm your wildlife with the neon stuff getting into their guts.

A lot of guys buy used metal feed bins at farm auctions, these can hold several tons of corn and the bottom can also be converted to a deer feeder. If you want to build something out of wood Google plans to build a corn crib

It doesn't take much to hold 1000#. Build a plywood box 4' x 4' and about 3' tall. It will hold more than enough. Or, a 275 gal plastic tote with the metal cage can be had for a little bit of nothing. I think you could adapt that, as well.

or just stack 10-100 lb bags on a pallet and move it around with a forklift to wherever you want it

Use a cheap pickup bed trailer if you don't want to use metal barrel or 274 gallon tote.if you wash out there isn't enough left to hurt anything. If still worried use some spray tank cleaner. But think about how you will unload after filled and how you will get buckets of corn out

Not sure where youre at but there are some quality manufactured big feeders out there. Just bought two 1600lb ones for a place in southern OH from a guy in NC

Curious why you want to store that much corn. Increased risk of aflatoxin the longer it sits around, especially if any moisture is present.
