Improving rifle accuracy

The only thing I would add is close your eyes when you practice with your snap caps. I "blind" shoot with my bow and do this with my rifle to build muscle memory. It makes a huge difference it you are consistent with your practice.

I think there is a lot of good advise in this thread. One thing that I would add is when working on your trigger pull, if you flick your finger off of the trigger right after it breaks whether you have a live round or not, then you are jerking the trigger. This is a good way to self evaluate. I do not know why it happens but it is a subconscious reaction.
I would recommend like some of the others that you get into a lighter caliber for deer hunting. If you are serious about shooting 7mm-08 there is a great deal right now on a Sako Bavarian that may help your trigger as it comes with a set trigger that will allow you to shoot it at just onces.

It sounds like you are well on your way to being a competent rifle marksman as well.

Not really relevant to the topic but I have a Tikka T3 270 and it'll drive tacks with 150 gr rounds. Just glad to hear others boast about the rifle. Makes me feel like I chose a good one.

Oh, and thank you for taking the time helping another youngster get into hunting!!

I got with a navy seal and two lessons fixed me. 1. Exhale completely all air. You have about six seconds to then shoot. Your heart rate is at its lowest point then
2. Squeeze the trigger and let the gun surprise you when it fires. Fixed me right up

I called a local range for lessons. They don't offer them. I don't have an easy place to practice with my 270. The range is $800 to join!!!

I just ordered some snap caps practice blanks from Cabelas

Anyone have any advice for me. Breathing, tripper pull, etc. I think what i am doing is punching the trigger like I do my release on my bow. Also my Tika3 300 WSM has given me a flinch. I have a 270 and I seem to shoot this better[/Q
i can shoot a shotgun and bow very well but a rifle... ugly

Shoot your .270, make sure the trigger pull is 2-3 lbs, have someone load it blind and if you flinch dry u owe him $20. Practice often with a good rest. Build confidence. Know your drop. 2 inches high at 100 is dead on at 225.
