One of our members went up to the club for the opening of turkey and found this. 2 times in less than a year. They took the tv this time instead of leaving it in the yard. The owner was up at the property supervising some planting the day before my buddy got there. It's infuriating.

It is so very sad that some people are so thoughtless. It appears that the thieves are not also hunters as they left all of those tree stands visible inside the cabin? Get serious and catch them and make an example out of them;No country justice stuff meant but make an example of them legally of course. Word will get out that that breaking and entering and stealing could make one a felon and for their sake hopefully they will choose a better course of activities in their future.

I think I'd have a cam or 3 on the cabin, as well as inside. They won't get them all. Doors that open out also help, as mentioned. Steel doors in steel jams make a huge difference. I'm a Deputy, I've seen a few doors that were thief proof, but not many. In most cases, they'd just break a window then.

How close is the nearest neighbor? When I had a farm in KY, we were remote. My closest neighbor had a cabin about a half mile away. He rigged up a siren system. It was all 12V that run off of a battery under his front porch. He had strings tied to his doors, and a trip wire in the living room. The lines all clipped to a toggle switch that turned on a police style siren. We were at our camp site one day when my buddy and I heard it go off. We hopped on the ATV and when we got there, it was him. He forgot to throw the toggle before he went it. Pretty effective, though.

Wireless camera with pics going to a base camera, they can take the camera but their pictures are already at the base. There's better options for this type of camera for sale every year.

In the process of building many small remote cabins we usually tell our customers that inswing doors are more theft proof than outswing, due to the ease of getting a prybar into the jamb of an outswing door. Proper hinges on outswing doors have a small inside set screw and a notched hinge pin making the exposed hinges a non-issue. An inswing door with a deadbolt long enough to reach into the framing stud is the most theft proof, but still only keeps the honest people with a flexible credit card out. As swat mentioned, windows are also an invitation to a thief. Having the thief's picture is a better deterrent than fortifying the windows and doors. IMO it's easier to totally hide a camera inside the cabin than outside. For an economy security system carefully cut a piece of board or paneling to fit the game camera sensors and make a decorative box or kitchen sink valance or something with it. Have the camera power on a wire so you can just unplug it when you are there. A camera at ground level against a tree with a few tree branches carefully placed right above it, back off the road 10-20' about halfway out the driveway, at a slight angle to get a license plate is effective too. Hinge cut multiple trees so that the tree branch hiding the camera isn't the only piece of brush in the vicinity.

Sux and I've had the same thing. Stole a generator, a case of beer, and a beat up pair of steel toed boots, go figure, yet left thousands of tools in a standing tool chest untouched, all while my dog watched since it was probably someone she and I knew. Middle of the day. And you can bet there is a 90% chance its someone you know or their kin, as has been my experience on rogue robberies. Sorry for your aggravation.

Did you file a police report? I see some outer sole detail in that footprint. It should have been photographed with a scale then collected with a gel lift. Foot ware impressions are sometimes as good as a fingerprint. That door looks like it would be a good surface to dust for fingerprints.

New door has deadbolt and plate. The tv was a 18 year old 60 inch rear projection. Got it for free off of Craigs list.

Put a second dead bolt about 3/4 of the way up that door. It will make it very difficult to be kicked in again and yes, they will be back. If you have never attempted to kick in a door those with a dead bolt set head high suck! As most people can’t kick that high and if they can there is no way to put any body weight behind it. Yes, I am speaking from experience and no I am not a burglar.

A few weeks back ours went off at 1230 am . Im 72 miles away and nearest police are 15 miles out . thugs was caught on county road thirty minutes later we arrived a hour later and the thugs were kinfolk . they hate me for sure now
