so i run about a dozen to dozen half cameras...so we would be talking 8k in cameras sitting around by going reconyx route

Love everything reconyx is about and no question they are best camera out there and I'm usually not afraid to spend money on hunting, but honestly i get my 5 years out of a browning 90% of the time at $100-$120/camera and you get some duds here and there, but looking at a large scale of cameras to simply take "inventory" photos at 8k i'm better off buying a drone that flies around the property.

i always struggle with what am i missing by not going reconyx and longevity always seems to be the answer....i don't even want a camera that's 10-15 years old, 15 years ago i was still putting D cell batteries into cameras and MP on camera were 1-2MP was a lot and biggest card you could put in camera was 1 GB card ha

I too am a fan of Reconyx. They do capture picture more reliably than even brownings (I’ve put them on top of each other to monitor). Our problem is two fold: camera theft and costs. I run 30+ cameras these days (mostly to catch/deter trespassers) and can’t justify the cost of more than a couple Reconyx. By way of perspective, we had our 13th camera stolen this year (that’s since 2014). I’ve got a number of cameras watching cameras so one of these days, I will catch the thieves…. The last several years, I’ve purchased nothing but browning (I tend to buy a year or two older model and spend<130). I’ve gotten 5 years out of a couple browning and covert cameras, but most seem to last about 25-30 months these days (we run them all year in some brutal winter weather).

Weekender, what coverts have you had good luck with? I’m still running some old MP 6 and 8s. I tried a couple new models and the lasted only a year or so.

The MP’s are still a thing, now called MP30. I prefer the NBF’s. I’m adding a few NBF30’s this year.

If a camera craps out after a season contact Covert, they’ll repair it or send you a new one. I run mine 365, generally happy with a camera that lasts 3-4 years.

Does anyone run the cuddelink system. Knock on wood, I have two years on mine without a failure. Just wondering what life expectancy should be with those cameras.
