Farm and Ranch life

Been hunting this guy 2 years. 13 hunts this year for over 30 hours all sitting by an oak tree with brush piled around me. 3 ticks, countless mosquitos, drenched in rain yesterday, 82 degrees today soaked with sweat, and finally this boy walked out with camera running.....Video to follow. I'm jacked!

Was basically lying down behind brush I had around me. Had some corn...yep baiting, damn right....about 30 yards away. 7-8 deer were milling around all close enough to hit with a rock when this one finally walked out. I reached up hit the record button, then started trying to jimmy myself up enough to get in position on the deer. All while trying not to alert all the eyes and control my runaway heart. Over the top exciting. I've been focused on this guy since July 2018. Think him to be a 7 yr old. About 200" even.

I thought you were gonna stroke out on us Rusty ! Now I know what I must sound like........:D

Great buck !

I can't believe he couldn't hear your heartbeat. I could feel your pulse coming through the computer. Fantastic video, narration and hunt. Couldn't be happier for you. I know what it is like to pursue one particular buck for years, in my case it was 4. Wish I could say my hunt ended as successfully as yours. Congratulations.

One of my favorite time of the year. Fall planting

Very intersting, thanks for sharing your program. Question for you on drilling into clover. How tall and thick is your clover when you drill? Do you mow the clover short prior to drilling to get more sunlight for germination/growth? Any issues with seed germinating in the clover? Thank You

I mow the clover as tight as I can before drilling into it. Generally this is in September and the clover is mostly dormant and thinned out. Once a little rain comes and temps cool a bit clover pops back up. Seeds germinate just fine.

Loving watching your giant, no-VERY giant deer videos. It is super to see what you have accomplished with your deer herds. However I must say that I can't watch them too much or I might act like the coon dog in the old story about the one that is still out there hunting somewhere looking for an animal larger than reality. After being shown an ironing board and told to go find a coon big enough to fill this "stretcher" that poor dog kept searching and never returned. There simply were no coon in his area large enough to fill that stretcher. And I don't believe anyone in this area of NY is growing deer to seven-plus years old.

While any of us could get lucky and someday grow a buck to six or seven years old the reality here in the New York areas I've seen a 3 1/2 is a great deer and fairly rare still and a 4 1/2 is over the top for most of NY. I really appreciate seeing your videos just the same though.

As Lakngulf said WOW!

The vid was great. The increase in your breathing tells everyone the passion you have for hunting is alive and well.
I am glad your patience and persistence paid off.
Congrats

Baker - I follow you on YouTube and watched this vid a few weeks ago. As CTM1 said, it's obvious you still get juiced when hunting one of those old monarchs. Great buck!
