This was after a 4" rain two weeks ago.

All the fields were infested with 8"-12" stumps. I'm not one who likes to plow around them so I hired a guy with a stump bucket to come pull them all up. it took him 2 days to remove 200 or so of them from my two largest fields. Then I loaded them on a trailer and moved them out of the fields. We ended up missing a few of them but it's far better than what it was.

Because of the drought last year I only disked one field. That was in October and I didn't plant it until mid December.

I obviously wasn't the first one to turn this ground.

We only got a few light rains on it but what did come up the deer had a field day on.

Great looking place! Our land is only 20 min south of Elberton near Tignal.
We bought our place a year ago and it's one of the best decisions of my life.
Enjoy it with your daughter and keep updating us on your work!

I spent 20 years hunting in a club just before Tignal on hwy 17 and had some great times down there. I stopped in the little Cafe there at the red light last weekend and had breakfast on the way back from the seed store in Washington. Tignal is a good little town with some good people in it.

I don't have many actual "land" pics and since most of my earlier pics were lost I'll be sure and take more and catch up on what the place looks like.

I hunted a little bit this year but I had no intentions of shooting a deer unless it was a decent one. I didn't see any that made my heart race but I did see tons of them which made me feel great.

I have a buddy who comes over and hunts a little bit with me and he's on the same page as I am as far as letting the little ones go. His wife and daughter had never killed a deer so anything was fair game to them. His daughter shot an 8 sitting with him the first morning and his wife shot a doe from the same stand that afternoon. They were happy to say the least and I was happy for them. These were the only two deer killed here last year.

Here's my biggest food plot at right under 10 acres with 8 1/2 acres of it tilled and planted in RR corn.

You are just a stone's throw from me and Triple C. Maybe you should buy our dinner one night at the Red Minnow Lighthouse.

Y'all figure out a time and I'd be glad to! Somebody may have to loan me gas money to get there, but I can handle the supper.

Here's my view looking straight out from my barn

Here's my view to the left of the barn.

And here's my view to the right of my barn. Not really deer related, but I'll most likely turn this 20 acres into a hay field.

I got here Friday after lunch a hooked the harrow up and disked a 7 acre field and a 8 acre field up one last time and was ready to plant beans the following day. They were calling for rains the following morning.

These are a favorite of mine considering they'll grow in the desert it seems and most summers that's what it feels like around here.

Loaded up, inoculated and ready to go.

At 4.9mph I buried them 1" deep. It took me about 5 hours from start to finish and clouds were moving in the whole time. I was as nervous as could be.

Me and the youngin rode over and checked on our corn and it is doing very good. I hope it makes it through the summer and we get a chance to hunt it this fall. I can already see a big buck chasing a doe through it right now.

After all that the youngin had to get in the creek and get wet. It's too cold for me but she's made of iron I guess. This is our creek that runs the length of the property.

She found a chicken egg in the creek. I thought that was odd. Lol

We had to get up early this morning and head back home. The steady rain made us both happy. I can't wait to see it when we get back next weekend.
