Just checking in real quick. Been grinding it out the last week trying to be here to catch the rut. Finally saw a daylight shooter on Friday. Had a monster at 40 yards yesterday but he didn't walk through any shooting lanes. The mature bucks are out seeking alone in NE Ohio. I'm finishing my coffee and heading back out here shortly. 3 days of vacation left.

I canceled these last 2 days vacation due to poor wind directions for hunting our place and start vacation again Thursday evening for 10 days following and then may take a couple days the following week as well.

Was a strange rut to say the least. Daylight deer sightings were few and far between. Some nice bucks still around including "Yoda".

Gun season opened on Monday and my buddy Chris did some doe management on my place.

Yikes, Yoda is a heck of a deer! He looks to be two hundred plus pounds easily. Good for Chris to take care of doe management. It has to be done.

Nice hogs you got growing up there. You are right, one of the weirdest rut seasons I've hunted. I just got a pic of one of my 10 pt I've been chasing, that I fig was dead, in middle of my field doing a lip curl. So young ones must be kicking into estrous. My other 10 has busted off his left rack, so he's gotten couple passes. Couple days off next week for ML so maybe one can still screw up. But only my neighbors are good at taking a good buck at 1:30 AM in the morn. Good luck.
