Brushing in Ladder Stands/Cutting Lanes

I have a ladder stand that is in a great spot, but when the leaves come off I stick out like a sore thumb.

What do you all use to brush in your deer stands? When deer bust me here it is usually a doe that snuck in from behind and caught me moving.

Getting this stand set perfectly and brushed in will be one of my top projects this habitat season.

I’m also going to clear some lanes. They will be cut with modern firearm season in mind. Would you all suggest lanes perpendicular to known deer trails or should I cut them at an angle (45 degree) to known deer trails?

Thanks for any input!

Burlap and evergreen limbs...do it early and let everything get used to the blob on the side of a bare tree...

If I do it late, I use beech stems with leaves. The stands that are on older huge trees as a backdrop sure have an edge to start with.

The only hunting show I watch anymore is Midwest Whitetail, and I am pretty sure they use artificial oak limbs of some sort on their treestands. Looks like it breaks up the outline pretty good.

Old fake christmas tree limbs can make this happen as well. Usually there are people trying to get rid of old fake Christmas trees and you can get them for free.

This is what I’m gonna do to brush up my tripods. Probably still add some cedar too for the aroma.

I had a similar situation earlier this season . Didn't get busted by one buck it was always doe but not every doe. One doe in particular would usually see me. I cut some cedar branches and hung them behind me to break up my outline. It did seem to help but I really need to put a few limbs in front of me. I killed my biggest bodied deer out of that stand last Friday evening at 24 yards. He never knew I was there. Whole weight was 251# and dressed weight was 202#. Can't figure out how to post pics. Pretty big for our neck of the woods in NE Oklahoma.

Thanks for the input guys. I won’t be hunting out of it until next year so the deer will have plenty of time to get use to it.

201 lbs dressed is pretty big anywhere Deerstuffer. Pics are easy to post here. Usually if pics don't post they are too large. Try resizing them by 50%.

Some stand companies make Blinds to fit their stands.

Usually I just use Burlap but on this on I bought the Blind for it. Fits perfect and the top can be pulled back for shooting a Vertical Bow out of it.

I'm going to work on this for some of my stands next year. I will be making branch holders using pvc pipe that's spray painted black and then zip tied to my stands. I did it to one of my hang-ons a few years ago using small pieces of garden hose and it worked fairly well.
