Black oak appeal for Whitetails?

Seems that location is more important than actual type of acorn dropping. This tree is getting mauled right now and the white oaks are dropping all over the farm at the same time.

Not sure what the appeal is considering it’s a bitter red oak variety.

JHarkness comments on black oak are surprising in this thread. He says it spreads like an invasive on his land in NY.

Also, as an aside, this book claimed it was an important wildlife food source, "rare for a red oak."
