Basal Spray for Autumn Olive

Wonder what my odds are on this big sucker. No AO here but found more honey locust than I thought I had. This one was probably 36" diameter and surrounded by all of its younger offspring. Girdled it and sprayed a bunch of Triclopyr in the cut and below it. Hoping it goes quietly.
That is the only way I have luck with HL. That is a big one! Any chance you mixed you tri with diesel?

I did mix with diesel. 24 ounce of Triclopyr with a little less than a gallon of diesel. Hoping that formula is lethal. Cut around 20 and carefully stacked them up. Looks like I lost a cat fight as arms are wrecked lol.

I've found that mix to be lethal. It works well at keeping root sprouts from popping up after the spraying.
Lol, no amount of "careful" can keep you from bleeding with these things. I'm always very glad when I get done and haven't had one go through my foot.

I have been mixing triclopyr and diesel 1 to 1.

I am up to about 6 gallons of 1\3 mix of triclopyr and diesel sprayed. Covered quite a few acres. The ones it did a month ago are starting to break bud, has me a little worried. Maybe it takes a while to make them sick?

I'm pretty sure that all the chemical that we have been spraying is in the plants but the plants are pushing out now once the leaves come out the plants will be pulling back down to the roots.

In my experience with winter basal spraying they will leaf out and just about when fully leafed, within a week or two the leaves shrivel and dry up. Yours are dead, they just don’t know it yet :)

That's sure what I need to see.

I mix 1/2 gallon tryclopor with 3.5 gallons off road diesel in a 4 gallon backpack sprayer.
I’m killing ironwood and musclewood (American hop horn beam) with this mix. Anything I have sprayed with it ends up dead, dead.
This is the best combination ever. I mix just a little stronger at 1 part triclopyr to 3 parts diesel. I suggest using the weaker mix that @Dogshooter spells out, and only going stronger for bigger trees or rough bark, as needed.

This might turn into a better porn thread than the apple one. Yeah beautiful luscious pictures of fruit are cool, but stone dead invasive bull$#!+ is the bees knees

And then come back next year at this time when I light the carcasses on fire! The guy working with the skid steer puller on the CRP was about done as well. Spent about 25 hours on as many acres. Should be able to get it back in for another 10. The clock is ticking on getting that lit this season, it's greening up pretty quick.
