All day hunts... who does it?

I will say its a lot easier to sit all day when hunting away from home.
Fall is such a busy time for "home chores". Sometimes I get the guilts and feel like I should get down and go to the house and do some work.
But the beauty of hunting away from home is that there really isn't much else to do other than hunt. What the heck else are you gonna do during mid day if you get down? May as well stay in the tree. Good things can happen between 9 and 3.

I usually sit all day for the WI opening of gun hunting, but rarely will outside of that day unless the weather is perfect. ie. light snow, not too cold, not too warm, etc.

Strategies - I use to lose interest quickly when I get too cold. So, I invested in fantastic equipement to stay warm and dry (heated vest close to my core is important), my cell phone and additional power source to surf the internet to give my brain a break, apples and RX bars for snacks.

I haven’t done it in a while but I used to go in one evening (I have a 4x8 box blind), hunt pigs or whatever then spend the night in the blind and wake up ready to go for the morning hunt. Makes for some pretty interesting hunts and doesn’t spook anything walking in like you would on a morning hunt. The wife thinks you’re crazy but she probably already does anyway or at least mine does.

I have several times during the rut window, especially if I’m away from home. As Tap said, you might as well.

I sat all day Saturday in a tree saddle and only saw one deer at 2:00pm. It was a long day.

I sit dark to dark as much as I can. I killed my best buck to date right at noon last year.

Hunted all day today w stand change at 12. Had buck chasing a doe at 1:30. What else is there for me to do? Go sleep in the Jeep?? Might as well hunt.
