I think you're unlikely to get much benefit this year, or this winter. The benefit would be having the rye ready to take off first thing in the spring which would be preferential to whatever weeds pop up.

I've bought from Seed Ranch multiple times without any problems.

I can't directly answer your question but for such a short term cover crop before fall I think buckwheat would be an obvious choice. I don't see how clover will feed a ton of deer in 8 weeks.

Yeah im planning to plant more of it so not a huge deal just something that occurred to me looking over the plot today. I'll probably mow the plot a couple weeks before tilling and planting fall plot. I'll use a lighter Rye seeding rate and I can overseed if necessary.

I wouldn't divide the rates. Last fall I planted (small plots) at the heavy side of the LC mix and got great results.

Looks like Delta aren't too different than the 4010. I ended up getting a bag of each and I'll see if there's any difference.

Local coop doesn't have 4010 field peas, they either have AWP or Delta forage peas. Similar price difference. For a fall food plot, any reason I shouldn't get the forage peas?
