House and Habitat build thread:

Planted some Chinese Chestnuts that I've been growing. Barely beat a storm so they should be watered in well. Didn't get to cage them so hopefully the deer don't clip them off tonight.

Always careful where you stick your fingers out here. Besides the scorpions we find all the time, I stumble across these once in a while:

I found some growing on my place this year but they wern't thornless for sure
Did you eradicate them? My only concern when getting them from this guy was spreading by seed. I told him I didn't need another invasive to fight, he assured me that of all the Johnsongrass, pig weed, and lesbideza he fights that blackberries were never an issue.

that's about the size of my chestnuts that I started in pots this spring. I should get them planted but will probably wait and plant after deer season. Our ground doesn't freeze so I should be ok.

Better get those trees protected. I plan on tubing mine.

They survived the night! Deer were there again this morning but they didn't pay any attention to them.

A series of pics of the lake.

Rain stopped and thankfully the wind shifted and is blowing all that debris to the other bank (saves me a ton of work when it blows to the other side)!

Turkey, the lake usually floods once a yr. This yr has been the exception. It's doing what it was designed to do as a watershed... slow the water down before it hits the main creek and have major flooding.

Dogghr, I would sure share some of the rain we've gotten with you and Kubota if I could.

Armadillos are now despised by me just like hogs, bears, and raccoons are :(

I saw Kansas getting all that rain again and thought of you guys up north...

Beautiful rainbow picture!

Amazing how that pond can change shapes. It must really be a catch-all valley for several hills.

Kubota, that rainbow was great! I was trying to get some stuff done Sunday evening before dark, when I looked up and saw it. It was only there for a few minutes and I managed to take a couple of pics.
G3, I'm blessed with water this yr, wasn't for the previous 5yrs. Not trying to rub it in, just excited to finally have consistent moisture.
lakngulf, the drainage runs for several miles and catches many springs and other drains. Its a drastic thing to watch, lots of power and things change quickly.

I didn't take it that way at all. It's great your getting the precip, your plots & trees should be in good shape. We'll get it sooner or later, an aggravating ride in the meantime though.
