I also planted a similar mix in big plot and stonehendge. They have been in beans for many years and I needed to get them into clover mixes for a few years again. Tilled, seeded and packed!

Was great to find a little fawn this weekend, mow plots down, mow some of the pipeline (walked it before hand to make sure no fawns), planted screen on pipeline as well.

Also pulled away from farm and the skys dropped a great soaking rain - GREAT TIMING!

Great update and pics. Your plots look great and in some good remote areas.
That fawn is BIG! Or is it just the camera angle like when you hold a fish way out in front to make it look bigger

THANK YOU! Most of the farm is very rural and very heavily wooded. We have had to make green spaces to open up the farm in an effort to draw deer into green spaces. It really has been a lot of fun to design and carve the land the way we want it!

I’ve had a dozer on my farm 3 or 4 times. I continue to be amazed by the before and after. I now have trials cut, probably 3+ acres of plots (that’s a lot in timber country) and all done in a couple weekends.

To do that same work with a tractor and saw would have taken me years!!!

The fawn was with momma but sound of tractor made momma run and the fawn just laid down. I told it to get back into the cover, it jumped up and ran into cover hahahaha

I had some dozer work done earlier this year and was amazed at how much he got done in the 3 days he worked. I agree...it would have taken me years with a tractor and a saw.

Thank you - a dozer is an amazing tool. I am still planning on taking soil tests on all the areas we ran the dozer. I did see them with clover, just in an effort to get a root growing. Should be a real fun year hunting these new spots.

Thanks bud! It’s a good one for sure! I’m really excited about all the spots. On the “old farm” we were really hoping and trying to pull these deer from the bedding. Now on the new ground we have tucked these plots next to the bedding. With a good wind, you should see deer all day long.
 
Big changes! Nice work. There will be some happy deer on your place this fall. I debated using a buddy’s dozer or hiring one for a crowned road project. I know enough to run equipment and run stuff over but feathering ground to make a proper road would be a steep learning curve. Meeting a dozer guy this week and hope to finally have a crowned road capable of supporting equipment and vehicles year round to the back field.

Good deal! My buddies would probably be willing to help you if it don’t work out with that guy. Having a good operator is key, specific to my area. You cut a road straight do hill and it looks good until a rain, then boom, you don’t have a road hahaha
 
No major changes here boys, need to get sometime to get to the farm but with me becoming an Uncle any day - that is priority.

I did get some time to shoot this week on my new target - Mathews is feeling rock solid.

Lastly I found sometime to make sure deer burgers - Jalapeno Cheddar
3 lbs of deer meat
3 brown eggs
3/4 cup of bread crumbs
diced jalapenos
diced cheddar cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, onion powder, garlic powder
Mix and make into 8oz patties

Enjoy!
