I'll tell you exactly what killed it...a flying squirrel built a nest in the bottom ofthe tube! Don't see that every day. There's at least 1 baby in the nest. So cool.
I would hate that to happen for two reasons. The first is I would hate to lose the tree. The second is we would have a new pet. My wife has been dogging me to find her a squirrel and a flying squirrel would be even cooler.
