To be named later Montana farm

Definitely the boonies, but Billings is about 1 hr 15 minutes away on an easy highway drive.

The fishing on this part of the Yellowstone is catfish, pike, walleye, and smallmouth bass. Too warm (and the river is big!) for trout.

You are close to the Bighorn.

Can you still drive as fast as you want out there? I know they used to have speed limit signs at 100 but that was just a recommendation.

Nice purchase Cut. Quite the change from SC LOWLANDS. Had buddy lived near Billings for 12 years. No paved road in his town and managed a 12 bed hospital. Good elk hunting and fishing
I’ve rode motorcycle thru most that country. Some really cool areas. Congrats

Nice find man!

You’re In yellow sweet clover country. Rain will be a challenge, but it can be managed fairly well far as deer and elk are concerned.

Do your soil samples because you’re gonna likely be in +7 pH soils.

Read up on huckleberry. You’re in that territory now.

You're also in the triticale capitol of the world. Trical Forage is based out of Montana, and you've got a seed dealer 80 miles west of Forsyth that carries everything you could ever want, including Trical forages.

You've got access to the best bred specialty cereal grains on earth.

Damn, I haven't moved to Montana yet.

Well if you want to, the farm house needs a tenant! I’m worried about how quickly it will degrade with no one living in it.

It’s so peaceful out here. I just woke up listening to the birds, very crisp, fresh air, and 11 deer visible from one bedroom window. Walking around the place yesterday I jumped countless deer, a pheasant rooster, and a quail.

Hopefully you can find a good renter, sounds like they would be worth more than the actual rent money in your case, or just as much anyway.
