The Massey

We're getting to the point of needing some rain. Some storms are beginning to fire up, but most are staying west of us. Hope that changes the rest of today and the next couple days.

I updated my phone this morning and it’s being a pain now. So I’m not sure these will load. I went and pulled one card from a camera that’s easy to get to this afternoon. Had to wait in the car when I got there for a random, much needed, thunder shower to pass through. Here was my beautiful view for a while. IMG_3247.JPG

We have some nice, more wide spread rain rolling through today. It almost feels like September out. Supposed to be back in the upper 90s soon though.

I saw that Kansas thunderstorm system on the radar. As contractors we look at the radar multiple times during the day. We finally got substantial rains in the past half week with more on the way tomorrow with a tropical storm forming off the coast of Virginia beach.

Good to hear, I’ve always been a fan of the rain clouds. It would be a difficult for me to live in an arid part of the country.

Well, I just got off the phone with Welters Seed; I order a few things from them each year I can't get around here. This year chicory will be added to the mix, I've never used it before, but I'm going to try diversifying some this year for better regenerative outcomes. I went with Forb Feast Chicory, I hope that's an okay choice. Last year, unsprayed Johnson grass really hurt the early growth of our late summer brassica planting, so this year I plan to spray ahead of time. We've gotten good timely rains lately, so the Johnson grass should be ripe for the killing. I'll be holding off until the middle of September to broadcast the cereals, peas, some leftover radishes, and chicory into the existing clover plots.

I added a lb of forb feast to my clover blend this year from Welter. Never tried it either. 5 lbs Alice white and 5 lbs jumbo II ladino with the forb feast. Planting some next weekend and the remainder August 1. Little over 1/2 acre.

I have some more pics, but I’ll wait to upload them with the computer; they keep showing up as attached files you have to click with my phone.

I thought you had a droptine buck... then realized it was a deer butt behind him.

Nice deer!

This is the guy we'd really like to see, so far he's a no-show. We've had him on camera the last 4 years. He always disappears around the middle of September.
