I got it really bad when I was young. 40 years later, I am immune. My mom used to swab turpentine on it.. It worked a little.. not recommended.. hehe...
Well u know what happens when you run your mouth. I never get poison ivy/oak even so I respect it. I’ve gotten into it and no affect. But as I said.... had couple tree down on highway as I was headed to Farm wk ago blocking traffic. Everyone jst sitting there waiting for God to move it I guess.
Anyways. Being the nice guy I am I get out, fire up my Stilh. And cut the 16 dbh and the others down although I could see they were covered by ivy. But hey, I don’t get it and somebody has to do it!! Luckily I had gloves and long pants but no long short sleeve w me.
Anyways I got the crap on both arms. Went got steroid shot and rx today. Doesn’t itch but looks evil. Had stay out of sun so no golf or farming. Should’ve went back home and showered after exposure. Thru away gloves and washed down the Stilh.
Dang. Be careful the stuff is wicked this year.
If I spray it with 41% gly I have to hit it twice. I switched to 2-4-D and got better results with a single spraying. I am not worried about killing everything else in the area as the poison ivy pretty much takes over an entire area. I have a patch that grows in and around an old rock pile and it must be all of an acre. If the deer truly love it they have plenty to eat on my land.
