Pistol choice ?

I'm a DA fan. For woods carry I usually have a Ruger GP100 in .357. For IDPA and regular carry purposes I prefer a DA/SA. The Sig P 220 gets lots of carry time even in the woods but I really like my Berettas (M9A1' and Brigadier). My Beretta 92 Compact seems to get the most carry time these day though. It's small enough to carry but big enough too.

The Walther PPQ M2 is by FAR the nicest shooting pistol that I've ever shot.

So much so that, after shooting a friends I had to have one. Not only is it an attractive looking gun for a polymer pistol, but it has the best trigger out there and will make you feel like Jerry Miculek after shooting it. You owe it to yourself to take a look at one. You won't be disappointed.

If you want a concealed carry pistol check out the kimber solo. Excellent little gun. When im in the woods i open carry a revolver. When im in town i conceal carry my solo. I bought the stainless, and in hindsight i would have rather had the cdp. Thought about upgrading, but instead i just bought crimson trace grips for my solo stainless. Its a nice light little gun that shoots very well. Havent had an urge to get anything different for my cc weapon, and that says a lot. Im the kind of guy that always makes up a reason to "need" a new gun of some sort.

I've got both of those you showed John and like them both. The MP is one of my fav auto carries. 9mm is a nice target gun since you mentioned that and a good carry. I have several dozen pistols of all types and each serves its purpose. If you are not real comfortable with a pistol, I would suggest first time a revolver. Easy to maintain,easy load, never fouls, good for hunting or self defense or target, intimidating look. And a revolver stuck down in a beat up leather holster tells someone it ain't your first rodeo and you have pulled it out before. Intimidation is better than having to shoot. I carry a 357/38 into the woods and sometimes self carry or a 40 cal revolver on the road. The autos are always around and take a ride with me a lot. Trust me even a 22 put into the gut, and the dude is going to be crawling around on the floor like a worm. Like women, kinda personal choice.

I really dont think gut shooting somebody with a .22 is a good idea. If i ever had to shoot somebody, id want to make damn sure they die right there. A corpse cant sue.

And that my friends is why my pistol of choice is an xDm in .45. My wife has an xD is 9mm and she loves it. My next pistol for CC will be the xDs in .40.

So true, but I never said where the next shot was going, if I had to use a 22, not my preferred weapon of course. Ever seen anyone gut shot before on the street? They don't travel far.

Having an assortment of pistols while living in NJ is pretty much a waste. I do have my father's Ruger single shot six revolver. Trying to get his 45 1911 but he won't budge on that one quite yet.

I've had a carry permit since Texas made them legal. I've carried a High Standard .22 Mag derringer, a Randall Raider .45 ACP, a Glock 23, a Glock 20, a Ruger LCP, a Ruger LC9, an S&W M&P 40, a Springfield XDs, and finally an S&W Performance Center Shield in .40 S&W. Different circumstances require different guns. The search for the perfect carry gun is over for me. The PC Shield has the best trigger I've ever used, fits my hand perfectly, and having shot handguns all of my adult life, I have no trouble with a low recoiling round like the .40 caliber. Any, or all of the guns mentioned will serve as a bedside handgun, plus many more. My advice is to shoot as many different ones as you can and then make up your mind.

Depending on situation, I may also carry it in my pocket with a Sticky holster. I wear alot of cargo/carpenter style jeans that have large pockets and it fits and conceals quite well.

I spent years carrying Sig's and Glocks on duty. I'm retired now, but still carry them. As a certified gun nut, I have 9s, 40s, and 45s for EDC and Truck carry.

When I hunt I have two hunting pistols both with Iron sights. A .44 mag and a .45 Colt Both Ruger Blackhawks.

I carried this combination for two years, and it probably can't be beat. I know the holster can't be. The N82 is positively the best IWB I've ever used. I mostly wear T shirts winter and summer so concealment isn't an issue. Untucked in the summer, tucked in the winter, ( with a Carhart vest ), if it's cold enough.

The XDs is a fine pistol too, but I just like the feel of the Shield grip better. Actually, I'm pretty well at home with any reliable handgun, it's kind of a Ford-Chevy thing, personal preference.
