I've got both of those you showed John and like them both. The MP is one of my fav auto carries. 9mm is a nice target gun since you mentioned that and a good carry. I have several dozen pistols of all types and each serves its purpose. If you are not real comfortable with a pistol, I would suggest first time a revolver. Easy to maintain,easy load, never fouls, good for hunting or self defense or target, intimidating look. And a revolver stuck down in a beat up leather holster tells someone it ain't your first rodeo and you have pulled it out before. Intimidation is better than having to shoot. I carry a 357/38 into the woods and sometimes self carry or a 40 cal revolver on the road. The autos are always around and take a ride with me a lot. Trust me even a 22 put into the gut, and the dude is going to be crawling around on the floor like a worm. Like women, kinda personal choice.
