One thing that's hard to believe is this picture was taken 4 weeks ago. We have had rain and warm temps since so the plots should have filled in really niclely. We also overseeded with oat seed and that should fill in any bare spots. I'll be in a stand over one of the plots next weekend.
Goal will be to hunt the fringes unless we find a buck on camera that is patternable. If not hunt edges of farm, shoot does, take in the beauty.

First sit on the new farm - warm as hell but plot looked good.
100% Amazed at the results of the brassicas this year! Holy Turnips!
We had a few slow sits. Sunday morning was a great morning, saw 15 antler less deer between myself and my cousin. My cousin decided to shoot a doe. He made a QTR TO shot, the arrow entered one lung and liver, exited the back of the rib cage. He shot her with the new RAGES - all I am going to say is wow! That broad head cut the last 3 rips of that deer in half! She ran about 70 yards and died - first deer of the farm this year!

It has been awhile! Here is my attempt to catch y'all up!
Well it has been a good season for us this year! My cousin harvest a hit lister that we had on camera, shot it with his bow a day before gun opened here in Ohio! He shot him with his Mathews, tipped with a new rage, deer ran 30 yards - piled up!

I have been hunting very hard and passed a lot of deer, just have not seen a buck that I REALLY want to kill. I did harvest a nice antler less deer yesterday, fresh venison!
this is the exit, shot was a touch back but the rage hit the lungs/liver. Deer ran 25-30 yards, and died.
PS - pays to have a buddy who's grandpa used to slaughter hogs, walk in cooler!

the deer are hammering the food plots. Honestly, the deer numbers seem to be higher now than ever before. I am hoping I have enough food for them.

Below is an example of some of terrain/thickets. I watched this opening day of gun season. I counted 12 slicks that day, they appear and disappear into the thicket. It can make hunting hard as there is about 500 acres of similar habitat around us but it also allows the deer to avoid the orange army.

Thank you - been a good season. My cousin and I had that deer on camera several times. He hunted him hard and wanted to kill that deer bad. We had bigger deer around but that deer was probably the most predictable. Took him about 8 hunts to finally seal the deal on him!

Thanks so much. Always tough when I don’t kill a buck but just can’t shoot one Unless im totally satisfied.
What keeps me hooked is the planting plots, running cameras and planning for future. That’s really what I love about all this jazz!
We are planning the new layout of the farm in March as we added land and we are pumped.

Good job buckhunter. Your hard work is showing, and I am glad when you report of some help you get from others. My new pumped comes from the smile I see on the grandsons face, anticipating the hunt, and enjoying it. I get a smile when my daughter tells me over the phone "The boys are SO EXCITED about going hunting"
